DreamWorks Secures $825M

Restructured in 2008 as a private production company, DreamWorks has concluded rounding-up a total $825M in corporate financing for the ‘new’ film company.

The HollywoodReporter notes that sum includes $325M JP Morgan-led bank syndication, a matching amount from DreamWorks principal Reliance Big Entertainment and a $175M commitment from (distribution) partner Disney.

DreamWorks will begin to channel movies through Disney's distribution pipeline. Its agreement with the Burbank studio also provides for TV and home entertainment title distribution.

DreamWorks' first new shoot will be a three-way co-production with Paramount and Spyglass, the comedy, DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS (Paramount will distribute).

Using money from Spielberg and other sources, DreamWorks in January acquired 17 film projects launched by its execs while at Paramount, including the Sci-Fi action pic, COWBOYS AND ALIENS.

For now, DreamWorks will remain on the Universal Studios back lot.
