Eamonn Butler to Head Double Negative Animation

Double Negative has appointed Eamonn Butler as its new head of Animation. Butler spent 10 years at Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he worked on a number of productions, including FANTASIA 2000, DINOSAUR and REIGN OF FIRE. He was most recently animation supervisor for CHICKEN LITTLE.

Working at Disney was like going to college to study animation with the best teachers in the world and getting paid for it, Butler said. I'm hoping to bring some of that to Dneg Irish born Butler will oversee the development of the Double Negative Creature Animation department, which is currently working on major sequences for Roland Emmerichs TEN THOUSAND BC and HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX.

Double Negative also announced the arrival of Justin Martin, most recently a senior CG supervisor at Framestore-CFC, where he oversaw SUPERMAN RETURNS, BLADE 2 and HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE. A native of Australia, Martin started his career at Dfilm in Sydney, where he worked on DARK CITY and THE MATRIX. His first role at Double Negative will be co-CG supervisor on HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX.

Paul Franklin, Double Negatives head of 3D and vfx supervisor for ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, said, Were very pleased and excited to welcome Eamonn and Justin to the team. Their skills and experience will make a major contribution to the future development of creature animation and visual effects work here at Dneg.
