Here’s a treat: Home Sweet Home, the short thesis film directed by Alejandro Diaz, Pierre Clenet, Romain Mazevet and Stephane Paccolot, has been released online.
Named Best Animated Short at the SIGGRAPH 2014 Computer Animation Festival, Home Sweet Home was produced at France’s Supinfocom Arles. In the 10-minute short, according to the official synopsis, “a house uproots herself and goes on an adventure.” The house, set in a decaying, abandoned small town, uproots itself in a bid to stave off demolition and heads off into the unknown, inspiring others to join along:
The short has been shown at festivals across the globe, including the CutOut Festival, HAFF, SIGGRAPH Asia, Spark Animation, the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival and the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, among many others, picking up numerous awards along the way.
A Vimeo Staff Pick, Home Sweet Home was also a selection of the 15th annual Animation Show of Shows, the traveling animation show of the year’s best animated shorts from festivals around the world curated by ACME Filmworks founder Ron Diamond and presented at major animation studios and schools across the country as well as select international locations.
Now in its 16th year, the Animation Show of Shows has completed the bulk of the screenings for its 2014 tour -- which included selections such as Disney’s Feast, directed by Patrick Osborne, Glen Keane’s Duet for Google ATAP, and Torill Kove’s Me and My Moulton -- with more dates to be announced for next year.
