Hornet Animates Origami for Special K

Hornet’s Peter Sluszka creates, The Box, a stop-motion animation spot using origami for Special K.

Hornet/Blinkink director Peter Sluszka along with Leo Burnett London has new a stop-frame animation out, a celebration of Special K's first recipe change in over 30 years. Laced together with impeccable design and sensitivity, animation virtuoso Peter Sluszka uses the meticulous art of origami (a favorite of objects to animate) in his latest stop-motion piece. Butterflies, birds and the famous Special K red dress girl (recreated in paper) take form through intricate folds, creases and pleats to symbolize Special K's transformation.

Nearly every little fold of origami and papercraft as well as the product shots were brought to life in-camera at Hornet's shooting stage in Brooklyn. To experience the subtle details of this spot, be sure to watch the making of.

The Box campaign aired early June in the UK and is rolling out across European markets. A print campaign will accompany the spot.
