The global platform celebrates creativity and technical talent in animation and motion design across Marketing & Communications, Commercials, Television, Film, Experiential, Games & XR.
Today, the Collision Awards, a global and holistic platform that honors excellence in animation and motion design in all forms, announced its inaugural winners representing over 30 countries and six continents. Launched in partnership with key industry leaders and partners, the mission is to celebrate the creativity and technical talent in animation and motion design across Marketing & Communications, Commercials, Television, Film, Experiential, Games & XR.
The awards honor work by studios, production companies, brands, agencies, and individuals with various categories focusing on the intersection of creativity and technical skills. A celebration to honor winners will feature a screening and reception at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Lincoln Center on July 23, 2024.
“I’m truly impressed with the caliber, quality, and variety of work and entrants in our inaugural season,” said Collision Awards general manager Randeep Katari. “We set out to cement the concept of animation as a medium across a breadth of media and disciplines, and I feel like we’re on our way to achieving it. From the biggest films in the world to localized campaigns, our winners exemplify that animation is truly a global medium, and I’m excited to see what the future of animation brings.”
The Collision Awards Founding Jury includes Joe Burrascano (founder, Nathan Love); Justin Cone (global head of communications, BUCK); Sarah Cox (executive creative director/Aardman); Marge Dean (head of Skybound Animation Studio and president/Women in Animation); Ronnie del Carmen (co-director & writer of Pixar’s Inside Out); Patricia Claire (founder, Free Agents); Maureen Fan (chief executive officer/Baobab Studios); Holly Fraser (editor-in-chief, WePresent); Ian Jones-Quartey (showrunner, director, animator & voice actor); Jinko Gotoh (producer Finding Nemo); Jay Grandin (co- founder and executive creative director/Giant Ant); Julie Lockhart (co-founder and president of Production/Locksmith Animation); Andrew Millstein (co-head/Annapurna Animation); Mike Moloney (founder and executive creative director/Art&Graft); Gilles Monteil (animation expert/Ubisoft); Ramsey Naito (president/Paramount Animation and president/Nickelodeon Animation); Phil Rynda (director of Original Animation; The Pokemon Company International); Charlie Sells (joint MD/creative director at Jelly); and Fred Volhuer (co-founder/Atlas V Group).
During the public voting fans cast over 20,000 votes for the Collision Audience Choice Award with winners including Claynosaurz (multiple wins including Best 3D/CG Animation in Film), BUCK’s Let’s Revolution! (Best Character Design in Games) and Indian studio Zebu Animation with their Commercial LEGO Ninjago - I Just Had the Most Outrageous Dream.
