Animated movies lead the nominees for the 2006 DVD Exclusive Awards, with Lilo & STITCH 2: STITCH HAS A GLITCH and TARZAN II receiving the most nods, at 12 and 11, respectively.
Including its nominees for Pixar's THE INCREDIBLES, Buena Vista scored 44 nods, far from the runner-up, Warner Home Video with 23, including 12 for sister company New Line Home Ent.
20th Century Fox Home Ent. garnered 16 nominees, Universal Studios Home Ent. nine and Paramount Home Ent. eight.
The live-action film with the most nominees is First Look's THE SNOW WALKER, which received 10 nods, including Best Live-Action DVD Premiere Movie.
Following in the footsteps of the preceding movies in the franchise, BARBIE AND THE MAGIC OF PEGASUS WITH 3D got two nominations, including Best Animated DVD Premiere Movie. A BARBIE animated movie has been nominated in this category every year since 2001, when the first movie in the franchise bowed. Despite being nominated every year, BARBIE has only taken home the Best Animated DVD Premiere Movie award that first year.
Other animated and vfx films on DVDs that were nominated include MULAN II, KRONKS NEW GROOVE, FAMILY GUY PRESENTS STEWIE GRIFFIN, MADAGASCAR, KING KONG: TWO DISC SPECIAL EDITION, BATMAN BEGINS: DELUXE EDITION, BAMBI: SPEICAL EDITION, ROBOTS, STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH, THE SIMPSONS: THE COMPLETE SIXTH SEASON, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, SIN CITY and AVIATOR.
Nominees for the DVD Exclusive Awards, sponsored by VB sister DVDExclusive.com, were decided by votes from the 600-member DVD Exclusive Academy, made up of people who work in the creative side of the entertainment industry.
