Marvel Enterprises has tapped former Saban exec Eric Rollman to head up its new direct-to-DVD venture with Lions Gate. As svp of home entertainment and TV production at Marvel Studios, he will oversee the development and production of animated DVD features. Set for a 2006 release, THE AVENGERS will be first title. In his new role, Rollman will oversee all aspects of this major commitment to original home entertainment programming, including development and production.

With our world renowned character library, there are countless possibilities for creating dynamic, action-packed animated made-for-DVD movies. Erics background, combined with his knowledge of Marvel, will be instrumental in taking advantage of this tremendous new opportunity for Marvel, said David Maisel, president/coo, Marvel Studios.

Rollman added, I am excited to help bring to life some of Marvels marquee characters through feature quality animation. This is a rare opportunity and we look forward to delivering animated movies for the home entertainment market that both old and new Marvel fans will greatly enjoy.

Previously, Rollman headed independent production company Rollman Ent., which consulted on the development of live-action and animated television, film and media programs. As president of Fox Family and Saban, he sheparded the POWER RANGERS and DIGIMON, in addition to bringing Marvel characters X-MEN, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, SILVER SURFER and THE AVENGERS to Fox Family, before it was bought by ABC/Disney in 2001.
