Netflix Drops ‘Sakamoto Days’ Final Trailer, Names English Voice Cast

The upcoming anime series, which follows a legendary assassin who falls in love, marries, has kids, falls out of shape, but must resume old fighting ways, streams January 11.

Netflix has dropped the final trailer for the upcoming anime series Sakamoto Days, based on the original manga by Yuto Suzuki. The English voice cast has also been revealed. Available to watch starting January 11, the series centers on “the greatest hitman,” Taro Sakamoto, feared by all villains and revered by all hitmen.

The first episode illustrates Sakamoto’s dark and gritty past as the slender killer who defeats bad guys with nothing but a handgun and his wits. Then, in true slice-of-life anime fashion, Sakamoto falls in love with Aoi the convenience store clerk, hangs up his weapons, puts on a hot pink “Retired” t-shirt, and gets married. The two have a daughter, open a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town, and then Sakamoto… lets himself go.
