Netflix Drops ‘Ultraman: Rising’ Teaser Trailer

Our first big Geeked Week '23 animation reveal shares cast and images from Shannon Tindle’s highly-anticipated film, based on the beloved Japanese character, baseball superstar Ken Sato, who returns home to Japan, picking up the mantle of Earth-defending superhero Ultraman.

Netflix’s Geeked Week ’23 kicked off Monday, November 6, with the week-long virtual event highlighting the most anticipated genre titles across films, series, and games. The streamer’s first big animation-related reveal was a casting announcement, sneak peek video, and first-look images for Ultraman: Rising, the newest 3DCG animated movie from writer/director  , coming in 2024.

Leading the A-list voice cast are Christopher Sean (You, Hawaii Five-O), Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles, Parental Guidance), Tamlyn Tomita (The Good Doctor, Cobra Kai, the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender), Keone Young (Crank, Men in Black 3, Star Wars Rebels), and Julia Harriman.

Based on the beloved Japanese character, the movie follows baseball superstar Ken Sato as he returns to his home country of Japan to pick up the mantle of Earth-defending superhero Ultraman. He soon finds more than he bargained for when he’s forced to raise the offspring of his greatest foe. Ken must go on a heroic journey, balancing parenthood, his estranged father, and the relentless Kaiju Defense Force to rise beyond his ego and discover what it truly means to be Ultraman.

Tindle (Lost Ollie) directed the film, with John Aoshima as co-director. Tindle and Marc Haimes are the writers. Tom Knott and Lisa Poole serve as producers. Tsuburaya Productions and ILM produced the movie.
