Fifty-one films are selected to compete from 1,103 submissions, including Don Hertzfeldt’s ‘World of Tomorrow,’ Ainslie Henderson’s ‘Stems’ and Rosto’s ‘Splintertime.’
Don Hertzfeldt’s ‘World of Tomorrow’ is selected to compete in Japan’s second annual New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival.
Following a call for entries in June, festival organizers received 1,103 submissions from 59 countries and regions. The selection committee chose 51 films to compete within the International competition and 10 films for the newly-established Japan Competition.
Selections for the international competition include Don Hertzfeldt’s World of Tomorrow, Ainslie Henderson’s Stems, Rosto’s Splintertime, and Mikey Please’s Marilyn Myller. Click HERE to see the full list of films.
Also on deck for the 2015 edition are BAKUON (Sound Explosion) screenings of Yellow Submarine, featuring The Beatles, and Katsuhiro Otomo’s Steamboy, as well as the Japanese premiere of Jorge Gutierrez’ The Book of Life. In addition, the festival will host a Koji Yamamura retrospective aimed at family audiences with a special appearance and lecture by the beloved animator.
