Fox Animation Studios has picked up the rights to THE STORY OF FERDINAND, the 1936 classic from writer Munro Leaf and illustrator Robert Lawson, reports Vulture. The story follows the peaceful bull that would rather smell flowers than fight matadors. Blue Sky's Carlos Saldanha (RIO) will develop the project as his next directing gig. Previously Disney adapted FERDINAND into an animated short in 1938, earning an Oscar for the film.
