Possible ‘Batman Beyond’ Film Starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeifer Canned

The feature, set after the events of the ‘Batman Beyond’ animated series, may have seen Michelle Pfeiffer return as Catwoman, reviving the romance between her and her ‘Batman Returns’ rival.

The disrespect! Not only was Michael Keaton’s return to the role of Batman squashed when Warner Bros. Discovery canned Batgirl, but now his Batman Beyond film, set after the events of the like-named animated series, is dead as well. The feature would have seen Keaton back in the black cape and cowl as a potential follow-up to his appearance in next year’s The Flash. Christina Hodson was attached to pen the script, although the project was never officially announced to the public.

To add insult to injury, THR now reports that the film may have brought Michelle Pfeiffer back to the franchise as Catwoman, which would have revived the romance between her and her Batman Returns rival. What a reunion that would have been!

Not all is lost, however. All… or at least some… truths should be revealed in early 2023 when Peter Safran and James Gunn finally unveil their plans for the DCU. Perhaps Batman is just on hold while details are sorted, and creative teams are established. Here’s hoping!
