‘Robot Chicken’ writers Matthew Senreich, Tom Sheppard and Zeb Wells team up to write the screenplay for the hybrid live-action/stop-motion animated ‘Rabbids’ feature from Sony and Ubisoft.
“Bwaaah!” Robot Chicken writers Matthew Senreich, Tom Sheppard and Zeb Wells are teaming up to write the screenplay for the hybrid live-action/stop-motion animated Rabbids feature from Sony and Ubisoft, according to a report by Variety.
Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the award-winning animation studio founded by Senreich, Seth Green, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner, will be a producing partner on the film, alongside Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The Rabbids feature marks the second collaboration between both Sony and Ubisoft for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. Ubisoft recently partnered with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios to create a first-of-its kind concept game trailer for the action game Toy Soldiers: War Chest, which debuted at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Sony Pictures Animation and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios are developing together a new stop-motion/live-action hybrid feature project, titled Superbago, which will be directed by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios principals Harvatine IV and Towner and produced by Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess along with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson.
The Rabbids got their start as the crazy, loveable villains in Ubisoft’s Rayman video games and have since branched into comic books, collectibles, merchandise, mobile games, television and more. Thanks to partnerships between Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Nickelodeon and France Televisions, the Rabbids landed on the small screen in 2013 with Rabbids Invasion, which has been seen more than 165 million times in five months; more than two million viewers on average tune into each episode in the U.S.
