Sony Announces Hybrid Stop-Motion ‘Superbago’ Feature

Sony Pictures Animation confirms a new stop motion/live action hybrid feature project, ‘Superbago,’ to be directed by John Harvatine and Eric Towner of ‘Robot Chicken’ fame.

Sony Pictures Animation confirmed today a new stop motion/live action hybrid feature project named Superbago.

Superbago will be directed by Robot Chicken's John Harvatine and Eric Towner and produced by Napoleon Dynamite helmer Jared Hess along with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson.

The film is being written by Ricky Blitt; Jared Hess, Hubbel Palmer, and Chris Bowman.

"Superbago is a unique new project for Sony Pictures Animation,” commented Michelle Raimo Kouyate, president of production at Sony Pictures Animation. “I love that our studio has the luxury of not being tied down to one specific type of movie. Superbago will skew older than our last features but I immediately fell in love with the smart comedy idea behind it which features two irreverent stop motion characters dropped in a live action world. The incredibly talented creative team of directors John Harvatine and Eric Towner along with the unique perspective of producer Jared Hess will make this project like nothing you've seen before."

"This project started with a couple of buddies buying a '73 Winnebago off craigslist and making a short film near and dear to our hearts,” said Eric Towner. “We found a super supportive home in Sony Pictures Animation and couldn't be more thrilled with the talented team surrounding the project."
