Who lit the black flame candle? It must have been a virgin, because the Sanderson Sisters are back! Well, not exactly. Hocus Pocus 2, the sequel to the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus is in development for Disney+ and Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics) will pen the script. However, Bette Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), and Kathy Najimy (Mary) are not yet officially attached. Bette Midler has spoken poorly of reboot rumors before, claiming it would be “cheap” to introduce a whole new cast. Midler, Parker, and Najimy have all expressed their interest in reprising their roles in a sequel, though. It seems that Disney is also hopeful that the original Sisters will be involved in some capacity. No word yet on whether the original director Kenny Ortega (Newsies, High School Musical) will be returning. While we still have a list of questions exactly one grimoire long, we’re glad we didn’t have to wait 300 years for the Sisters’ next reincarnation.
