The former CEO of Sergio Pablos Animation fills the role of retiring 20-year studio veteran Pam Marsden.
Industry veteran Damien de Froberville has joined Sony Pictures Animation as EVP, Production and Operating Strategy, effective today. Kristine Belson, President, Features and Series, Sony Pictures Animation, made the announcement.
“As many of you know, Pam Marsden will be retiring in the new year following her remarkable tenure as an invaluable leader at Sony Pictures Animation for nearly 20 years. With that, I am pleased to share that Damien de Froberville will be largely filling her role as EVP, Production and Operating Strategy effective today.”
The studio’s series production business lead, Erik Vignau, SVP Physical Production, will report to de Froberville, as will the yet-to-be-named feature production day-to-day lead. In addition, Artist Management & Operations, Finance, Technology, and Post-Production will also all report to de Froberville.
de Froberville most recently served as CEO and producer for Sergio Pablos Animation. As an independent producer, he produced the animated short film Sith, part of Disney+’s Star Wars: Visions anthology series. Before that, as one of Netflix Animation's first employees, he led the build-out of the physical studio and its Los Angeles production operations. He oversaw Netflix Animation's first productions, including its first original animated feature and first Oscar nomination for an animated feature, Klaus.
In his early career, Damien held executive positions at Paramount, DreamWorks Animation, and the video game development company Virtuos.
