SPTI Ups Pachler to VP, Business Development

Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has promoted Christoph Pachler from exec director to vp, business development, in charge of strategic planning and new business initiatives for SPTI's three business lines: distribution, international networks and international production. His primary focus is on identifying new opportunities to expand SPTI's international networks portfolio, including the launches of new networks and acquisition of existing channels, as well as the acquisition of local production companies worldwide. Based at SPTI's headquarters in Culver City, California, he also oversees business development teams in Los Angeles and London.

Exec director, business development, since August 2003, Pachler was a business development consultant for SPTI from March 2002 until August 2003. Pachler has been involved in the development of a long-term plan for SPTI's general entertainment Hindi-language network in India, Sony Entertainment Television; the worldwide expansion of SPTI's animé network, Animax, and the development and execution of a new strategy for SPTI's local language production business.

He joined SPTI as finance director for International Networks in 1997, before accepting a position as lead strategist with Viant Consulting (2000-2001). From January 2001 until March 2003, he served as svp/cfo of Mixed Signals Technologies in Culver City. Pachler also served stints at Rysher Ent. from 1995 to 1997 where he was manager, international financial planning, and Kushner-Locke International, where he was manager, finance & sales administration, from 1994 to 1995.
