Chosen from over 5,000 entries, Izumi Yoshida’s animated film ‘The Bridge’ nabs Grand-Prix and Best Short Awards; see all the winners online until July 10.
Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2023 (SSFF & ASIA) just finished, celebrating the 25th year of the International Competition and the 20th year of the Asian Competition. The Grand Prix and the Animation Competition Best Short Award winner, selected from more than 5,000 entries from Japan and abroad, went to Kibo no kakehashi/The Bridge by Izumi Yoshida.

Kibo no kakehashi/The Bridge by Izumi Yoshida (Japanese director living in Poland).
- Inspired by events in 1920 that brought two nations closer, Poland and Japan, the film, from the perspective of a 10-year-old boy, portrays the history of orphans that were forced into early adulthood to fight for their lives.

Wild Summon by Karni Arieli and Saul Freed (U.K)
- The natural history fantasy film follows the dramatic life cycle of the wild salmon in human form.
The award-winning films will be available on the film festival online venue Grand Theater until July 10.
