The Wiggles, Sinking Ship Team for Animated Series

The project, announced at MIPCOM, is an original concept built upon the group’s core themes, delivering a new adventure for young audiences and families.

The Wiggles entertainment group and Sinking Ship Entertainment have partnered to develop the first animated series based on The Wiggles brand and extensive music library.  The announcement was made at MIPCOM by Luke O’Neill, CEO of The Wiggles, and Carla de Jong, Head of Co-Production and International Partnerships for Sinking Ship.

The series will be an original concept built upon the group’s core themes while delivering a new adventure for young audiences and families.  Co-viewing will be a main focus during development.

“For quite some time, The Wiggles have been eager to explore new avenues for expressing our brand through an animated series,” said O’Neill. “We are thrilled to partner with Sinking Ship, a company that shares our vision and will help us expand the brand’s creative reach.”

“What has always impressed us about The Wiggles is not only their deep understanding of the audience but how they have consistently evolved to meet their needs,” added de Jong. “Moving into animation opens up new creative possibilities that will allow us to connect with preschoolers and families in unique ways, it’s the natural next step in the evolution of the brand and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

The animated series comes at a pivotal time for both companies as SSE and The Wiggles broaden their international presence. Other recent projects include a YouTube channel; their 100th album; adult techno album The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence; and the parenting podcast Wiggle Talk.
