New Villain & Composer Confirmed for Potter 5

Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that Helena Bonham Carter has joined the all-star cast of HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. Bonham Carter will play Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius Black's cousin and a Death Eater, who is one of Lord Voldemort's followers.

David Goyer Set To Pen Thor for Big Screen

During a panel at Charlottes Heroes Convention, BABYLON 5 creator and comicbook writer J. Michael Straczynski slipped the news that David Goyer (BLADE, BATMAN BEGINS) is writing a treatment for a screen adaptation of THOR, reports EMPIRE. Its unknown whether Goyer will be rewriting the draft from Mark Protosevich (POSEIDON) or starting from scratch.

CBS Greenlights Ultra Comic Pilot

CBS has greenlit a pilot for a new live-action TV program based on the comicbook, ULTRA, reports VARIETY. JOAN OF ARCADIA creator Barbara Hall will exec produce the pilot. CBS Paramount Network TV is producing the show.

The comic is a spoof of celebrity magazines and follows a female superhero who must balance saving the world, advancing her career as super model, Pearl Penalosa, and developing a love life.

David Engel and David Alpert are co-exec producers on the project.

The Shreking of America continues, as DreamWorks SHREK 2 passed Disney/Pixars FINDING NEMO for top grossing animated feature in domestic history. In a career that spans more than sixty years, animator Tissa David has brought to life characters as diverse as Mr. Magoo, Shakespeare's Titania, and Raggedy Ann. David broke through the male-dominated animation industry by becoming only the second woman (after Lotte Reiniger) to direct an animated feature, "Bonjour Paris", in 1953.

Born in Hungary in 1921, she attended the Academy of Beaux Arts in Budapest, where she also co-owned an animation studio. She escaped the Communist takeover of Hungary by moving to Paris in 1950, and then to the United States in 1955.

Shockwave Clinches Deal With David Lynch

Shockwave announced it has finalized a deal with director, writer and producer David Lynch to develop a series of animated shorts exclusively for the Netcaster. Like pacts with Stan Lee and the SOUTH PARK creators, Lynch will hold complete artistic control and ownership of the characters and properties he creates. "The Internet is our future and shockwave.com is a very important part of it," said David Lynch. "David Lynch is amazing.
