Artists in the fourth year of Film London’s commissioning program for early-career Black animators shared short film works in progress; applications for new round opens March 31.
Award-winning animation studio Blinkink partners with Film London and Arts Council England’s program supporting black-identifying artists within the art, film, and animation; artists receive £3,000 each to create 1–3-minute animations, along with mentoring opportunities, development support, and advice.
The shorts premiered at TNBFC’s XPO in London, showcasing Black creatives; applications now open through May 27 for program’s 4th round.

The Film London initiative supports animators early in their careers with mentoring and development support, including £2,500 seed money to fund their work.
Group’s commissioned shorts premiered at the recent TNBFC’s event showcasing Black creatives; program’s second round confirmed, with its call for submissions running April 20-July 5, 2022.
Sponsored by Film London and Arts Council England, the program aims to support black-identifying animators living in the UK; selected artists will receive £2,500 each along with mentoring opportunities, development support, and advice, to create 1–3-minute animations that will premiere on the Film London website in Winter 2021.
During an online panel, industry agencies, including Film London, Animation UK, BFI, and Screen Scotland, renewed their sector commitment while sharing business development, investment, and government support insights and strategies in the wake of COVID-19.
Program sponsored by Film London and Arts Council England aims to support four black-identifying animators living in the UK by providing project development help, mentorship, and financing; applications deadline is June 22.
