VeggieTales Celebrates 15 Years

Big Idea, an Entertainment Rights group company, is celebrating VEGGIETALES' 15th anniversary in 2008 with an expanded licensing and merchandising campaign. The anniversary program will be led by a commemorative DVD release of WHERE'S GOD WHEN I'M S-SCARED?, new licensed product and an all-new VEGGIETALES Live Show beginning to roll out to consumers this summer.

Big Idea Up For Auction

Lombard, Illinois-based Big Idea Prods has announced that the company will go up for auction on October 28, 2003. As AWN reported on September 4, 2003, two days after Big Idea filed for bankruptcy, the company had announced that it had reached a definitive agreement with Classic Media LLC to purchase the companys assets for $7.5 million.

Big Idea Bought by Classic Media, Files Bankruptcy

Big Idea Prods has announced an agreement with Classic Media LLC to purchase the companys assets. As required by the deal, Big Idea has filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Jonah Sails To Home Video March 4th

The ever-popular VeggieTales characters are trekking to DVD and VHS on March 4, 2003 with the Artisan Home Entertainment and Big Idea Productions release of JONAH - A VEGGIETALES MOVIE. Big Idea Grows VeggieTales Next Feature

Big Idea Productions has announced it is currently in pre-production on THE BOB AND LARRY MOVIE, slated for release in 2005. Following the success of the VeggieTales debut animated feature film, JONAH - A VEGGIETALES MOVIE, Artisan's FHE Pictures and Big Idea Productions have continued their relationship for this next feature film. As with JONAH, Artisan will retain all North American rights to the film. JONAH - A VEGGIETALES MOVIE has earned a domestic gross to date of over $24 million and the film will be released into the home entertainment market in March 2003.

Idea Machine Visits Wonderville

Calgary, Alberta-based creative agency Idea Machine has collaborated with the Science Alberta Foundation to launch www.wonderville.ca, an interactive Internet destination designed to teach kids about science. The creative team at Idea Machine, led by animator Brent Lowrie (art and animation) and designer Darren Pearce (interface design and programming), created the concept of a 3D world where an animated cast of characters would lead the audience through a series of science-based activities.

Big Idea And Warner In Video Distribution Agreement

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber may be seen in a lot more homes now that Warner Home Video (WHV) and WEA Corporation have entered into a new sales and distribution arrangement with Big Idea Productions, the company best known for the VEGGIETALES video series. WHV will handle sales operations and WEA Corporation will handle distribution for all new and existing Big Idea Productions videos. WHV and WEA will be responsible for general market sales and distribution functions for VEGGIETALES, 3-2-1 PENGUINS! and the new superhero spoof, LARRYBOY - THE CARTOON ADVENTURES.

Big Idea Productions Announces New Hires

Family media company Big Idea Productions, creators of the successful VeggieTales home video franchise, has expanded its animation production division with the addition of Dan Philips as vice president of production and Ameake Owens as producer. In his new position as vice president of production, Philips will oversee all aspects of production for Big Idea and develop strategies to strengthen the studio's various production-related departments. Prior to joining Big Idea Productions, Philips worked with DreamWorks SKG as the digital supervisor for THE ROAD TO EL DORADO.

Big Idea Productions And Wal-Mart Team Up For Veggietales Promotion

Big Idea Productions, creators of the made-for-video series VEGGIETALES, has teamed up with Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, for a chain-wide promotion of VEGGIETALES apparel, toys, videos, audio CDs and fabric. During April, more than 2,700 Wal-Mart stores across the United States will feature VeggieTales signage and merchandise. Shari Martin, executive director of licensing and consumer products for Big Idea Productions, said, "We are so excited to participate in this promotion with Wal-Mart, which clearly demonstrates how VEGGIETALES' popularity is exploding across the country.

Charlex Lights Up Spots For British Petroleum

New York-based Charlex was brought in by British Petroleum to give a face-lift to their image. "The challenge was to make an interesting commercial using only the British Petroleum logo," said Charlex founder and spot director Alex Weil. "It was an idea originated by BP themselves, but nobody has been able to make it sufficiently interesting until we got hold of it. As [creative director] David Fowler put it, The idea went from the trash can to Charlex. Its a good thing too.
