Academy Award-nominated actor Edward James Olmos announced the festival winners to close out the 22nd edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.
LXiA reveals an expansive, exciting slate of premieres, in-person panel discussions, an animated shorts program, and virtual ‘cafecitos’ coffee chats, running June 1-3; LALIFF runs May 31-June 4.
Supported by Netflix, the community outreach program awards 3 emerging independent Latinx animation filmmakers with money, mentorship, and support for production of an animated short film; the submission deadline is February 3.
The inaugural program’s fellows, Cecilia De Jesus and Anthony Gallego, will receive a $10k grant, professional development sessions, and mentoring by an industry professional; the program is supported by Netflix in partnership with the Latino Film Institute.
Sponsored by Netflix, the program will award two emerging independent Latinx animation filmmakers with money, mentorship, and support for production on an animated short film; submissions now being accepted through December 10.
8 shorts will be featured at the LA Latino International Film Festival’s debut day-long animation event, set for June 4, which includes premieres, panel discussions, an animated shorts contest, and masterclasses; festival runs June 2-6.
As part of LALIFF 2021, LXiA is presenting a day of premieres, panel discussions, an animated short contest, and master classes, featuring speakers like Jorge Gutierrez, Sherley Ibarra, Carlos López Estrada, Phil Lord, and Lindsey Olivares.
