Short foreign animated film on consequences of trauma

By Danijela | Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:55pm

Hello dear Animators,

Once  I saw this magical short animated film that I'm desperately trying to find as I'm curating a film festival program on sexual violence and trauma. I can't seem to find it among my notes, in my archives or email so I was wondering if some of you might be able to refer me to some that follow under this description:

the short indie animated  2d film looks like it is drawn where one image morphs into another, tender, poetic, metaphorical, I think it is b&w,  but I am not sure,  with POV narration.

Looking for examples of 2d to 3d transformation effect

Hi.

I'm working in an animation project where we will require to make transitions (not cuts or dissolves) between a 2d illustrated street to a 3d version of the same shot. I mean, some kind of morphing or transformation of the 2d buildings to its 3d version. So, it will be great to see the works of other people as reference.

Any examples you can share of animations or any form of visual art that shows similar types of effect will be appreciated.

Thank you

Feedback on my 3D animating skills so far.

By Darren | Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 3:50pm

Hi guys,

Would it be possible to get some feedback on my animations?

I am a self taught animator and started learning how to do it all a couple of months back. Since then I have uploaded some of my videos to a YouTube channel which is slowly gathering traction and while the feedback has been good I am still looking for some feedback from animators.

Simple animation for LED signs for a new animator.

By thetrevler | Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:38am

I work for a jewelry store, so I need to find a simple to use, free program that will allow me to quickly create and modify videos for our sign outside our store. I don't know if it pertains at all, but I draw cartoons all the time, and I am proficient in CAD software, so a filled interface is not daunting to me. I just want something simple, that I can create videos on in a good amount of time.
Thanks lads.

Looking to get my TV series animated, any recommendations?

By TheWeirdGuy | Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 11:19pm

After shopping around for domestic animation studios, it looks like I'm going to have to outsource to South Korea like The Simpsons.  Are there any studios that are recommended where nothing will get lost in translation and I can have an independently produced sit-com that I can distribute on my patreon?  Will probably start off with a teaser/trailer, then use that to crowdfund the rest.  Any and all suggestions welcome.

Music composer seeking animation for professional portfolio

Hello all, I am a music composer who is trying to build a professional portfolio. If anyone has an animation that needs music, I would be happy to collaborate and make a custom composition that helps you tell your story. Instead of financial compensation, I would just ask permission to display the finished work on my portfolio website and of course credit you for the animation. I typically write cinematic orchestral music heavy with dramatic strings and percussion, ideal for action and adventure scenes.

Best 2D/3D Wacom device

Hello, I am the father of a sophomore student in 2D animation at Pratt Institute.  My son needs to purchase the best device he can purchase for his animation.  We understand that the recommendation has been a Wacom device - but we are looking for recommendations for the best one he can purchase for his needs.  Due to COVID - he will be working at home - so he is unable to rent as would be typical if he was on campus.  We are willing to pursue the top models - but I need some guidance.  Thanks for any assistance.

Old tradtional animation film about The Great War (WWI)

By NuSanMa | Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:45am

Hello All,

New member to these forums. Great site this!
I have a query to anyone who may be able to help me with a doubt that has been plaguing me for a while.
Many eons ago I watched an old animation movie about WW I. Not sure about the origin but it was not your usual film about war. It felt more like a film about a nuclear holocaust, such was the destruction I remember it showed.

In need of some animation vocab advice

By Turquoise | Monday, August 3, 2020 at 7:21am

Thank you so much to anyone who can hel;p with some info and advice.

I'm an illustrator, and the startup I work with is looking to bring someone in to do some, numorous, but pretty simple 3d animations of objects I've created.

The process would be animating flat pieces of "paper" to then fold up into various geometric objects.

Link me to a tutorial on making stopmotion models (+where to get supplies)

By Tramuzgan | Friday, July 31, 2020 at 1:11am

Ja san robot hobotnica, dica su u opasnosti od moje masnosti

I want to start making stopmotion shorts but I don't know how to make the models. I did make one 10-second animation with an old toy car and a War of the Worlds-type alien I made out of tin foil, but if I want to make something legit. Give me a crash course on modelling, what materials I'll need, and where to get them.

Side note: I never attended animation school, I'm not sure they even exist in my country

Hello!

I am a highschool senior in Canada looking to go into 2D animation! I joined this website to see if anyone has any knowledge about the 2D animation course at Rubika in Valenciennes! I contacted the school but they said the program was new, so I won't be surprised if no one knows anything about it...

Question about Richard William's Animators Survival Kit and how to animate "walks" on eight, twelve and sixteen frames per second

Hi there,

I'm trying to follow Richard William's "Animators Survival Kit" at the moment and I'm at the part where he's teaching about animating walks on 8 frames,12 frames and 16 frames etc.

However I find it bit confusing that he labels walks this way as whenever he includes a visual example of animating a walk on 8s,12s or 16s he appears to include an extra frame in each example.

Need Advice On Where To Go For College (stop motion and 2D) :^)

By neonwheat | Friday, July 24, 2020 at 2:55pm

hello ! I'll be applying for college in a couple of months and wanted to see if I could get some opinions- I'm interested in 2D, stop motion, and puppet fabrication (for stop motion). I also want to do story and character based animation, so I think Ringling's motion design program would not be the best suited for me. Currently, it looks like CalArts and RISD are the best for these interests- but are they?

I'd be incredibly grateful for any responses ! :^)
