Hi im 18 and yeah i started this short a whiiile ago and finally finished it. I did post it at newgrounds and newgrounds doesnt have a very good audience and dont provide very good feedback =). But id like to show it to people here. It is inspired by the "Thief" game series, i always wanted my own thief character in a medieval world. Oh i have had no training either, i have learnt my camera angles dont work in some places. Constructive critisism is welcome.

sorry for it being at newgrounds it does have a few pop ups
thanks
well its rather rough but the animation is verry good for some one of your age (im 16, 17 in a month) and well myself im having issues making muscle movement beliveable.
one thing that bothered me about the animation was that the people their proportions didnt work out all that well it seemed like something was wrong in some of the different shots.
Yeah i know i could have cleaned it up heaps and yeah im havin a bit of trouble with proportions, i havent had any training so i dont really know of any techniques but if you wouldnt mind sharing any i would really be helpful.
I know there is a technique for drawing body proportions and its the body is 4 heads in hieght and the hands end where the legs join together or something but i havent tried using it as someone told me about it before. Is this the right technique and if so how do you use it in perspective shots, like looking up at the character. I have had no training so please help. =)
Your work is very good and it obviosly took time to make. If your better at drawing than trying to make vector graphics look real, try that instead. You don't always have to use what the industry wants you to use. Mix it up,...see what you can get. Remmember there is a lot of ways to express yourself and your story....good luck.
I love the Thief games!! :D
Your animation is very nice looking. I think the first half is stronger overall than the last half. There are a couple shots that are a bitt too dark. I know that you want it to be dark, but you should be able to see something, especially if you want people to be able to pick up the quick movements.
There are some proportion problems like people mentioned already.
This is a very nice little short. Good job. :)

cheers guys
maybe i could draw the backgrounds and characters by hand, scan them into tha computer and colour them in their, then put them together using flash, but that might make a real big file size how do people make those animations in quicktime movies? or is there some other program which is good for animation but doesnt use vector graphics????? because those are quite tiresome and have alot of limitations in terms of effects.
I saw what must've been an earlier version of this on another forum (or perhaps this one) a while back, I think I might have even replied (something like "it's all about being self taught" [and it is])... I've gotta say, I'm ultra impressed with the improvements you've made since. It's rough around the edges, but all in all it's a great animation (especially the b&w shot of the guy on his horse).
gah, it's late and I'm probably not making any sense...
