He does one pull -- then another. At the end of that second pull he's up on one leg, then crosses over? The next section where he's pulling, for some reason, I don't feel it as much as every other time, including the pulls that finish it out. Any idea why that's going on? You're far more experienced so you'd know what to look out for =)
Nice overlap on the hat, by the way!
That's alot of fun. I did a very similar gag with a mime and an imaginary rope for a CG exercise. I have to say, your animation is much better than mine was.
Warning Spoilers for Pascal's animation:
You have some nice depth on the character. I'd love it if your crate had some dimension to it as well. It'd give it more weight.
On mine I didn't have a rope on the crate either (it was a safe for mine), and I always wondered if it would be funnier if there was a real rope tied to the crate that came coiling down after it falls.
Anyway, good stuff. More please.
Producing solidily ok animation since 2001.

I'm gonna go back a few pages and see if you've posted anything else I've missed in the last few months I haven't checked this board... Your stuff is insanely awesome.

oh wow..
i didn't even see that people had replied..
thanks guys..
did you make that in flash pascal? nice loose feel.. something that's tough to do in animation.
yup.. all in flash!!
Pascal,
I've been a fan of your work for some time now. In fact, I saw one of those Ritz commercials recently and enjoyed it, not even realizing it was yours. So congratulations on your success!
One thing I wanted to ask: all the stuff I've seen of yours is done in Flash. Do you animate traditionally, as in on paper, as well? If so, do you just find Flash much easier?
thanks, and keep up the good work

hi boss monkey..
the answer is.. no, not really..
I draw on paper a lot .. but i don't animate on paper( i'm not even sure i'd know how to actually!!)
I've learned how to really animate by using flash..
that's not to say that i didn't try to animate on paper..
while i was an exchange student in boston, for two or three months, i gave it an honest try.... but.. it really didn't stick..
so..
the second answer is.. yes...
i find it much easier to animate in flash!!

Pascal> I'm finding I'm having the same problem, which is why I'd give my left arm for a non-vector, pencil-like tool in Flash. it seems most of the 2d animation work out there requires animation on paper. even this small animation studio I'm looking into in Austin called Powerhouse Animation that does flash animations animates on paper first, and then scans it in and traces over the scans with flash. do you find yourself having trouble finding work because you only animate in flash? or is it something you've been able to work around?
