Cascade SIGGRAPH Hosts Two-night Screening of Computer Animation Festival

Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washington's local SIGGRAPH chapter, will host a special two-night screening of the 2008 | Computer Animation Festival (CAF), a highly regarded computer graphics extravaganza.

Formerly known as the Electronic Theater, CAF is showcased each year during SIGGRAPH -- an international conference of computer graphics and interactive techniques -- and features the best animation and visual effects work from talented artists worldwide. Cascade SIGGRAPH's CAF screenings will take place on Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13 at the Portland Community College Cascade Campus beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night. This event is free to Cascade SIGGRAPH members and is open to the public; a $5 admission-fee, providing access to both screenings, is required for non-members.

This year's newly expanded presentation of curated screenings was juried by a diverse group of industry professionals. Selected from hundreds of submissions, each entry represents the best of 2008's computer animation, ranging from visual effects and animated short films to student work and scientific visualization. Festival submissions originate from countries across the globe including Japan, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
