‘Flow,’ ‘Wicked,’ and ‘Shōgun’ Notch Golden Globe Wins

The awards season kicked off last night with films by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis and Jon M. Chu taking home awards for Best Motion Picture – Animated and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, respectively, along with Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo’s historical drama set in 1600s Japan winning for Best Television Series - Drama, at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 82nd Annual awards.

The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced last night at a live ceremony hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser. Launched in 1944 by foreign journalists covering Hollywood, the awards recognize the best creative talent from the perspective of international journalists.

Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis won for Best Motion Picture – Animated for his cat-tastic, wordless charmer, Flow, while Jon M. Chu won for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for his grand, epic musical, Wicked. Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo’s historical drama, Shōgun, set in 1600s Japan, won for Best Television Series – Drama.
