Super-Con, the East Bay's largest comic book and pop culture convention, returns to the Oakland Convention Center. More than 30 special guests, including comicbook artists, actors and other celebrities, will be in attendance as Super-Con celebrates its second year in Oakland.
The guest list is a "Who's Who" of internationally-renowned comic book artists and illustrators. Famed comicbook creators Art Adams (X-MEN, MONKEYMAN AND O'BRIEN), Sergio Aragones (MAD, GROO), Travis Charest (WILDCATS, STAR WARS), Adam Hughes (WONDER WOMAN, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA), Bill Sienkiewicz (ELEKTRA, NEW MUTANTS) and Charles Vess (SANDMAN, THE BOOK OF BALLADS) are among the notable guests at this year's Super-Con, and legendary Spanish artist Jordi Bernet (TORPEDO, BATMAN) will make his first appearance at a North American comic convention. Aspiring comic book artists can undergo a professional portfolio review courtesy of veteran artists Steve Leialoha (FABLES, SPIDER-WOMAN) and Tom Yeates (CONAN THE BARBARIAN, ZORRO). Media guests include Denise Crosby of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and Marta Kristen of LOST IN SPACE.
The official Super-Con reception and post-party will take place at the Cartoon Art Museum on Saturday, May 20, from 8:00-10:00 pm. Many of the featured artists will be in attendance, and the reception will offer comic fans the unique opportunity to spend time with some of their favorite comic book creators outside of the convention. The evening will commence with a panel discussion, The Modern Masters of Comic Illustration, a fun and lively conversation highlighting some of the comic industry's greatest talents. Additional details relating to this unique celebration of the comic arts will be announced at Super-Con on Saturday, May 20. Admission to this event is $5 to the general public, and free for Cartoon Art Museum employees and Super-Con attendees.
