New York Comic Con (February 6-8 at the Jacob K. Javits Center) is the East Coast's biggest and most exciting popular culture event. DC Anime Club and Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), Embassy of

Japan Present “The World of Anime Fandom” on Friday January 16, 2009 at 6:30pm.

During this event DC Anime Club will explain via a power point presentation about the

World of Anime Fandom from what is Anime (Japanese Animation) and

Manga (Japanese Comics), special anime conventions that are held around the US to

explanations for all the parents who wonder why they’re child is so in awe about

Anime and Manga.

IMAX Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of IMAX Corporation Richard L. Gelfond will present at the Citi Global Entertainment, Media & Telecommunications Conference on Tuesday, January 6 at 3:10pm Mountain Time (5:10pm Eastern Standard Time). The conference is being held at The Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.

The presentation is being webcast live and can be accessed by visiting the Investor Relations section of the company's website, www.imax.com. The presentation will be archived for thirty days.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2008, the first non-North American venue for a SIGGRAPH conference, to take place Dec. 10-13 at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center, Singapore, is anticipating 6,000 participants and some 80 exhibiting companies and country pavilions.

The 3-D Entertainment Summit will take place at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California, December 1-2, 2008. The event is the first fully dedicated forum bringing the business of 3-D entertainment into focus.

Award winning director and producer James Cameron will deliver a special keynote address. Joining Cameron in discussion will be Vince Pace who, together with Cameron, developed the revolutionary Fusion Camera System allowing for the re-emergence of 3-D filmmaking and the advancement of entertainment.

Since the creation of Cartoon Movie 10 years ago, a record of 123 European films were produced for a cumulative budget of 800 million Euros (in the previous decade, only 52 animated films were made). Twenty percent of these films clocked up more than one million admissions throughout Europe and audience numbers have increased six-fold in the past three years to reach today's 25 million filmgoers.

Held in Swansea, Wales, SAND is a U.K. conference event for CGI animation, digital content and creation, attracting visitors and speakers from around the world, holding sessions on computer games, procedural animation, films, post production techniques, TV commercials and motion capture. Now in its ninth year, the conference is organized by Swansea Metropolitan University in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government.

The weekend of November 21- 23, 2008 will mark the debut of the first annual Atlanta Supercon, a festival for fans of comic books, anime, animation, cosplay, video games and more in downtown Atlanta, GA. The show will include celebrity guests, artists, writers, vendors, industry guests, Q&As, parties, costume contests, anime programming, manga, cosplay, workshops, panels, cosplay photo shoots, raves and more.

Atlanta Supercon will take place at the Renaissance Atlanta Downtown Hotel, located at 590 West Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta Georgia, 30308, USA.

ParisFX offers a 2008 program focused on digital visual effects and CGI. Producers, directors, post-production houses and VFX supervisors will demonstrate their mastering of CGI and VFX via case studies or conferences.

The 2nd edition of ParisFX will also celebrate during the afternoon of November 20, the 25 years of French CGI (1983: production of the first French film in 3D animation MAISON VOLE).

The Bohemian 3D Animation project has set the goal to contribute to the revival of the former good reputation of Czech animation and strengthen the positions of young artists in the 3D animation. For this purpose, a series of workshops will take place at the end of the year in Prague.

There is no entry fee. The winner will receive $500.

The categories are: short film, experimental animation, Web animation, school reel, ad and videoclip. File format: AVI or MOV.

The festival has been rescheduled to November 10-12, 2008

NASSCOM's sixth edition of the Animation & Gaming India 2008 will be November 6-7, 2008 at the Hyderabad International Convention Center, Hyderabad. Over the years this event has become a premier event for this emerging sector in India, attracting the industry leaders, analysts, observers and media.
