Warner Bros. Pictures will release HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE in theaters on July 15, 2009.

The Writers Guild of America West's Genre Committee presents Just Add Pictures -- Turning Your Screenplay into a Comic Book, a panel discussion this Saturday, July 11, at WGAW HQ in Los Angeles. What do THE DARK KNIGHT, 300, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, and upcoming sci-fi thriller SURROGATES have in common? They were all adapted from comic books and/or graphic novels. While comics continue to provide major source material for studio development slates, how do writers get their own original genre ideas to them?

Oscar winning animation director Chris Landreth is one of the true legends of the contemporary creative animation scene. Landreth has been at the absolute forefront of computer animation development for a decade. His films -- THE END, BINGO and RYAN -- represented groundbreaking leaps in pushing technology to its limits to show the breadth of what animation was capable of depicting on the screen. Landreth was nominated for an Academy Award for THE END, with RYAN winning the Oscar for Best Short Animation in 2005.

KAFF includes two different competitions: one for European animated feature films and TV specials and one for Hungarian animated short films.

The Cartoon Art Museum hosts artist Trina Robbins and publisher Brian Andersen on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in promotion of CBG Comics' newest release, CALIFORNIA GIRLS. This event is presented by the Cartoon Art Museum Bookstore, and is part of its ongoing series of presentations and book signings.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a special screening of the 1939 action-adventure film GUNGA DIN on Friday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Before the presentation, Oscar winners Ben Burtt and Craig Barron will discuss the sound and visual effects used in the film. The program also will be presented in New York on Monday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy Theater in New York City.

The Los Angeles Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH will host a one night only event, sponsored by Side Effects software on the making of NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN. Francisco Rodriguez, FX Supervisor at Rhythm & Hues will provide an overview of the visual effects techniques employed across the production pipeline integrating both propriety tools and Houdini. There will be a special emphasis showcasing the creation of the climatic "Netherworld Sequence."
