Los Angeles Comic Book & Sci-Fi Convention April 2009

The Los Angeles Comic Book And Science Fiction Convention takes place at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, located at 700 West 32nd Street, right across from the USC campu, near Figueroa and Jefferson. Admission is $8; children 5 and younger are free. A large dealers room full of comic books, anime merchandise, toys, and other collectibles are also featured.

Six Hours Of Anime -- 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (Film running times may start slightly earlier or later)

Its designed to be a gathering ,celebration and promotion (for fans, by fans) of all thing related to Japanese animation, manga, and East Asian culture.The event will go from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm on April 25th, 2009. Luxology Hosts modo 401 Roadshow Across Germany

Luxology LLC, in collaboration with maconcept and the SAE Institute, will be showcasing the newest version of modo 401, its innovative 3D modeling, painting and rendering software, at the modo 401 German Roadshow from April 24 through April 30, 2009. The demonstrations will be conducted by Luxology's Training Division Manager, Andy Brown, who will provide tips and explore modo's new asset-based workflow, followed by a question and answer period after each session.

The independent Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Massachusetts has chosen animation luminaries the Quay Brothers as the recipients of the 2009 Coolidge Award. The prestigious award is given annually to a film artist or artists whose work advances the spirit of original and challenging cinema. Previous honorees are film producer Jeremny Thomas in 2008, film editor Thelma Schoonmaker in 2007, actress Meryl Street in 2006, Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro in 2005 and Chinese director Zhang Yimou in 2004.

The Stoke Your Fires Festival of Animation will return in 2009. This year's animation festival builds on the success of the 2008 event by hosting a month of animation themed events at The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.
