Find Out How Movies Really Get Made At Pixar

Pixar is hosting an evening at the studio to benefit for the Cartoon Art Museum. Over wine and hor's d'oeuvres, attendees will see a gallery exhibition featuring the pre-production artwork for the Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film, THE INCREDIBLES, opening Nov. 5, 2004. Guests will then be escorted into Pixar's state-of-the-art 240-seat theater to hear from Gary Rystrom (sound), Andrew Stanton (writer/director), Mark Andrews (story), Angus MacLane (animator) and Dr. Michael Johnson (R&D) about their unique perspectives on the movie-making process.

ASIFA-Hollywood September Membership Meeting

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, will be holding its Monthly Membership Meeting at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Center in Burbank on the last Wednesday of each month. Refreshments will be served. ASIFA-Hollywood is the only international organization that celebrates, educates, preserves and honors the art of animation. The monthly membership meeting is the way to get involved with current ASIFA projects -- The Annies, The Virtual Archive, The Monthly Screenings, The 2D Expo, The Preservation Project, and the new Games Expo.

Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) 2004

The 23rd annual Vancouver International Film Festival encourages the understanding of other nations through the art of cinema, to foster the art of cinema, to facilitate the meeting in British Columbia of cinema professionals from around the world, and to stimulate the motion picture industry in British Columbia and Canada. More than 150,000 people attended 500 screenings of more than 300 films from more than 50 countries. In 2003 there were a record 261 feature and mid-length films, plus 85 shorts.

Chiavari Animation Festival

Chiavari on the Italian Riviera will be conducting a new animation festival in 2004. In this first edition the Chiavari festival will gather "the best" of the animation output of the years 2000-2004. The event committee will be selecting the films, bringing together the best work from the past four years. An international jury will award the Millennium Prize along with more prizes. The event is being organized by famed animation historian Giannalberto Bendazzi.

3rd Liverpool Biennial

The third Liverpool Biennial is the U.K.'s international festival of contemporary art.
