1st Annual New England Animation Bash
In partnership with the Coolidge Corner Theatre, the Brattle Film Foundation's 1st Annual New England Animation Bash promises to be an event for all things "toony." Covering all the bases, the theatres will show independent and network pieces, as well as professional works and college projects. On June 6, The Brattle Theatre will host "An Evening with Soup2Nuts," kicking off at 6:00 pm. Audiences can catch a special behind the scenes glimpse when Soup2Nuts presents a panel discussion followed by a showcase of some of the studio's work over the last 10 years such as Comedy Central's DR.

Los Angeles Animation Co-op Meeting
The Animation Co-op welcomes Michael Ingrassia of the Short Filmmaker's Alliance (www.shortfilmmaker.com) to its next meeting. Ingrassia will speak about the Alliance, and tape interviews with Co-op members for his new cable TV show on short film production. There will also be updates on the projects pitched at the March 6 meeting in Los Angeles. PGA New Media Council Gaming Panel
The PGA New Media Council will be hosting a panel discussion featuring producers and executives behind such film and videogame productions as STAR WARS GALAXIES, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, TRON 2.0, ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, RESIDENT EVIL and METROID. Moderator Keith Boesky is head of the videogame department at International Creative Management.
LA ACM SIGGRAPH Presents The Visual Effects of Shrek 2
LA ACM SIGGRAPH will offer a presentation on the visual effects of SHREK 2, followed by a screening of the film. A social hour will begin at 6:30 pm with the program starting at 7:30 pm. The event is free to L.A. ACM SIGGRAPH members and $15 for non-members. New members who sign up on site and pay the $35 annual membership fee (Checks or cash only) do not have to pay the admission fee. Students with a current Student Photo ID pay $5. Gnomon School Hosts Syd Mead
World-renowned designer, concept artist and futurist Syd Mead will speak and sign books at Gnomon School of Visual Effects at 7:00 pm. In Hollywood Mead is known for his concept and design work for films, including the "V'ger" entity for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, BLADE RUNNER, TRON, 2010, MISSION TO MARS, ALIENS, STRANGE DAYS, TIMECOP, JOHHNY MNEMONIC and SHORT CIRCUIT. But Mead's influence extends to much more of the world around us through his design for clients such as Ford, Philips/Eindhoven, American Motors, Volvo, Chrysler and U.S. Steel.

The 3rd Annual Sci-Fi & Fantasy Classic Film Weekend is a celebration of classic sci-fi and fantasy film that will feature guest speaker Ray Harryhausen. At 7:30 pm on May 14, the event will host a talk with Ray Harryhausen followed by the screening of JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS. At 4:30 on May 5, THIS ISLAND EARTH will screen. Then at 8:00 pm, the event will host the New York area premiere of a new restored print of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA.

ASIFA-Hollywood Presents On The Front Lines
The International Animated Film Society-Hollywood celebrates the release for the first time ever of Disney's historic war effort productions on DVD with a screening of rare 35mm prints of Disney cartoons produced during world war two. Arrangements are being made for a special panel of industry professionals to appear at this special screening to discuss the work and culture at Walt Disney that went into creating these films. Beginning at 8:00 pm, the event will take place at Alex Theatre, 216 North Brand Boulevard.
Academy's Annual Short Films Screening
All of the films nominated in the live-action and animated short films categories for the 76th Academy Awards will be presented on the big screen of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater beginning at 7:30 pm. Academy Award-winning filmmaker John Lasseter will introduce the films and lead discussion with the 2003 live-action category winners, Aaron Schneider and Andrew J. Sacks. This annual screening of Academy-recognized short films is presented as part of the Gold Standard series.

10th Annual Hollywood Filmmakers Conference & PitchFest
More than 70 Hollywood studios, development and creative executives, producers, literary agents and managers to meet with and pitch projects to (film, TV and/or book) will be part of the event. It gives attendees a chance to present their story ideas directly to those in the business who can actually do something for their career Two intense days help establishing vital industry contacts. Plus, class sessions are taught by A-list filmmakers. The event also features agency submissions and a networking party. The conference will take place at the Le Meridien Hotel.
TAIS Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The TAIS Annual General Meeting (AGM) will feature reports from TAIS president and treasurer. Members will elect a new Board of Directors. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at the TAIS Centre, 37 Hanna Ave, Suite 231, Toronto.
Pixar's Andrew Gordon Speaks at NYU
NYC ACM SIGGRAPH and the NYU Center for Advanced Digital Applications (CADA) and NYC ACM SIGGRAPH will present a talk by Andrew Gordon of Pixar Animation Studios. Andrew will discuss FINDING NEMO, the importance of story development, character design and animation -- and how they all work together to create the final piece. The presentation will start at 6:30 pm and be held in The Skirball Theatre of NYU's Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South and LaGuardia Place. This event is free to all NYC ACM SIGGRAPH members, NYU faculty, staff and students, and the general public.
