Question About Contracts

I have finished an animation (minus the music) for a school project and am planning on entering it into festivals. I'm thinking of hiring somebody to do the music for me. My question is what steps would I need to take in terms of contracts? My professor tells me to make sure I establish upfront that I own the animation and nobody but me can enter it into festivals. Please help! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I need to ask one more question. How would I go about copyrighting my entire flash? Is it as simple as putting the swf file on a cd and sending it to the copyright office? Also, I would guess that I copyright it before I send it to the musician and before I put his name in the credits. Do I need to copyright it again after the musician finishes the score and I credit him? Thanks!

You might go about this via a non-disclosure agreement. Write in a clause that restricts the musician's right to disclose the project to purposes of self-presentation, and forbids publishing except within the framework of self-presentation on his / her website for those purposes.
