Universal has added a trio of actors to the cast of THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 5, reports VARIETY. Joaquim de Almeida (DESPERADO) takes the role of the villainous drug kingpin. Elsa Pataky (SNAKES ON A PLANE) will play Vin Diesel's love interest. Matt Schulze, who played Vince in the first FURIOUS film, is returning to join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Director Justin Lin has started shooting in Puerto Rico followed by work in Atlanta. Universal has set June 10, 2011 for the film's release.
Diesel is producing with his One Race Films partner Samantha Vincent and Original Film's Neal Moritz.
