Haley Bennett Joins ‘Borderlands’ Cast in Mystery Role

The ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ actor’s character will serve as a key to the mysterious past of Lilith, a woman with magical abilities played by Cate Blanchett.

It’s the adaptation that keeps on giving! Up-and-comer Haley Bennett (Hillbilly Elegy, The Devil All the Time, The Red Sea Diving Resort) is set to join the cast of Eli Roth’s Borderlands film for Lionsgate.

While Bennett’s role remains unknown, we do know she will play someone that is "key to the past of Cate Blanchett’s character, Lilith." In the video games, Lilith is a Siren, or person with rare magical abilities. This could mean Bennett will provide some type of catalyst for those powers.

Bennet joins Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Jack Black as Claptrap, and Ariana Greenblatt as the explosive Tiny Tina.

Avi and Ari Arad (Ghost in the Shell, The Punisher) will produce along with Picturestart’s Erik Feig (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Sicario). Randy Pitchford (Borderlands, Half Life: Decay) and Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two will executive produce. Emmy award winner Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) has penned the current script. The film is now in pre-production with no official release date.
