Films by Jérémy Clapin, Bruno Collet and Daria Kashcheeva take top honors among 20 works awarded prizes at 43rd festival edition.
The 43rd Annecy International Animation Film Festival wrapped up earlier this evening, with 20 prizes awarded across a range of features, shorts, TV programs and VR experiences. Record attendance (12,300 badge holders meant lots of foot traffic and extremely long session queues) showed that again this year, the industry continues to flock in droves to this beautiful French city by the lake for an inspiring week of the best in animated content, sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes reveals and glimpses of fantastic work to come. Interspersed with tons of fromage!
In the evening’s top awards, director Jérémy Clapin’s I Lost My Body took home the Cristal for a feature film, while Bruno Collet’s Mémorable won the Cristal for a short film. Daughter, by Daria Kashcheeva, took home the Cristal for a graduation film. According to artistic director Marcel Jean, “It is wonderful to observe the alliances between the official juries, audience votes and the junior juries. Aesthetically powerful and unique propositions, such as I Lost My Body, Mémorable and Daughter have something to please everyone, from professionals, adolescents and the public alike.”
