Jason Momoa Joins ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ as Lobo

After years of rumors, Momoa has confirmed his casting as the badass interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter hailing from the utopian planet of Czarnia.

The rumors were true! Familiar DC Studios face Jason Momoa (Aquaman) is set to play Lobo in the upcoming DCU flick Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Momoa confirmed his casting on Instagram, adding, “They called.”

In a 2022 interview ET Canada (via Variety), Momoa shared he was excited about the James Gunn and Peter Safran DC Studios takeover, stating, “There are a lot of cool things that will be coming up. One of my dreams come true will be happening under their watch. So, stay tuned!” The actor has been vocal about his love of the Lobo role for years.

Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appearing in DC Comics’ Omega Men #3 (June 1983). An alien hailing from the utopian planet of Czarnia, Lobo is a badass interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

Supergirl also stars Milly Alcock in the titular role alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle. Craig Gillespie directs from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, based on the comic series by Tom King and Milquis Evely.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters June 26, 2026.
