The leading visualization studio’s work focused on the cave sequences and all scenes ‘dragon related’ on Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Netflix’s fantasy adventure about a dutiful ‘damsel’ who marries a handsome prince, only to find herself trapped inside a cave with a fire-breathing dragon to settle an ancient debt.
Proof Inc. has shared with AWN and VFXWorld both previs and postvis reels - and lots of images - highlighting its work on Netflix’s fantasy adventure, Damsel. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), the film tells the story of a dutiful damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.
Proof spent 2.5 years working on the film, primarily within the cave sequences and on all “dragon” related scenes. The studio shares that its consistency throughout the project and the work on the dragon, crafted in Maya, established a streamlined pipeline for the entire production, maintaining a consistent look for the dragon as the character was integrated with the surrounding environments. “The strong creative partnership helped maintain clarity and focus throughout the project’s development. In the end, Proof’s dedication was evident in the final film that was both captivating and technically impressive, cementing their role as a reliable and creative partner in the project.”
