Animated adaptation of the popular 1980s Canadian live-action film ‘La guerre des tuques’ (‘The Dog Who Stopped the War’) is slated to premiere during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Shout! Factory has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to CarpeDiem Film & TV’s Snowtime!, according to a report by Deadline. Featuring the voices of Sandra Oh and Ross Lynch, the film is slated to premiere during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Snowtime! adapts the popular 1980s Canadian live-action film La guerre des tuques (The Dog Who Stopped the War) and tells of kids in a small town who engage in a massive snowball fight. What starts as pure youthful fun and enthusiasm over control over a large snow fort deteriorates into a more serious conflict where children learn valuable life lessons on friendship, the importance of unity and the emotional consequences of vicious rivalry.
Shout! plans a strategic rollout of the movie across multiple entertainment platforms, beginning with a theatrical launch in mid-February 2016 through Shout’s kids and family entertainment imprint, Shout! Factory Kids.
In addition to Oh and Lynch, the film’s voice cast includes Angela Gallupo (Being Human), Lucinda Davis (Winx Club), Sonja Ball (The Legend of Sarila) and Don Shepherd (Blue Mountain State). Céline Dion and Simple Plan are featured on the soundtrack.
Jean-Francois Pouliot (La Grande Seduction) directed the movie, which was produced by CarpeDiem founder Marie-Claude Beauchamp (The Legend of Sarila).
