Submit Your Work to the 44th Annie Awards!

Submission period for the 44th Annie Awards opens August 22; ASIFA-Hollywood also conducting the 44th Annual Annie Award call for nominating committee judges.

BURBANK, CA -- The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced that its Call for Entries for the 44th Annual Annie Awards is set to commence on Monday, August 22. The 44th Annie Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the 44th Annual Annie Awards will be presented in nine production categories and 22 achievement categories. Additionally, up to five honorary awards may also be granted for lifetime accomplishments, philanthropy, technical advances, special achievement and meritorious service.

“While the actual submission site will not open until the 22nd, as in past years, we thought it would be helpful to give Annie submitters a preview of the process,” said ASIFA-Hollywood executive director Frank Gladstone. “Past submitters have told us that this helps make submissions easier when the Call for Entries actually begins.”

Step-by-step submission instructions are located here; categories and rules are located here. After the formal Annie Award Call for Entries commences on August 22, you can use this link to enter the online submissions portal: http://www.annieawards.org/how-to-submit.

Entries submitted for consideration will be from animated productions that were released in the United States between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. Exceptions are commercials, short subjects, special projects and student films, which can qualify with or without U.S. releases. The deadline to become an Annie Awards Corporate Sponsor is midnight Friday, November 4, 2016. Final deadline to join ASIFA-Hollywood or to renew membership and participate in Annie Award voting is midnight on Monday, December 16.

Now through August 26, ASIFA-Hollywood is also conducting the 44th Annual Annie Award Call for Nominating Committee Judges. The registration procedure has been simplified this year, but all judges, whether they have applied in the past or are enrolling for the first time, will need to submit a new application. To be considered for a nominating committee, judges do not need to be ASIFA-Hollywood members, but must have an established career in animation and exemplary professional credentials in at least one of the Annie Award categories. Individuals in the animation community who are interested in being a nomination committee judge, will find the application here.

ASIFA-Hollywood is the world’s first and foremost professional organization dedicated to promoting the art of animation and celebrating the people who create it. Today, ASIFA-Hollywood, the largest chapter of the international ASIFA organization, supports a range of animation activities and preservation efforts through its membership. Current initiatives include the Animation Archive, Animation Aid Foundation, Animation Educators Forum, animated film preservation, special events, scholarships and screenings. Created in 1972 by veteran voice talent June Foray, the Annie Awards have grown in scope and stature for the past four decades.
