Adult Swim has axed the wayward animated series, starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong as bird women besties, following its third season, having previously rescued the series after its one-and-done at Netflix.
Female-led animated comedy Tuca & Bertie has again been canceled, this time by Adult Swim. The series will end following its third season, despite many future seasons planned and in the works. Series creator Lisa Hanawalt announced the surprise axing Wednesday on Twitter.

Tuca & Bertie first premiered on Netflix, where the series was promptly cancelled after a single 10-episode season. Adult Swim then picked up the wayward series for an additional two seasons before pulling the plug. Starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, Tuca & Bertie centers on the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (voiced by Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird. The cast also includes Steven Yuen.
There is some hope for fans, however, as the creative “bird woman” well is far from dry. “I have so many ideas for a Season 4, that I think I’ll probably need a Season 5 as well — and possibly, let’s call it an even 10,” Hanawalt told Variety in August. “I have lots of things I want to write about and different avenues I want to go down, and choose your own adventures I want to get into. I won’t elaborate yet, but hopefully, we’ll get the opportunity.”
The show was created and executive produced by Hanawalt, with Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, Haddish, and Wong also serving as executive producers. Michael Eisner's The Tornante Company produced, with the animation production by ShadowMachine.
