New York, NY — From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend, the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe! On August 16th, 2011, Classic Media, a global media company with a portfolio of some of the world’s leading family entertainment brands, in collaboration with World Events Productions (WEP), a top animated television production company, will release the first seven episodes of the iconic 1980s robot-themed television action series, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, on a brand-new DVD, Voltron: The Legend Begins ($12.98 SRP).

Voltron: The Legend Begins tell the original story of a brave team of space explorers—Keith, Lance, Sven, Hunk and Pidge—who search for the keys to five mythical robot lions on the planet Arus.  Arus has been destroyed by the armies of King Zarkon and his use of giant Robeast monsters created by the witch Haggar. The planet's only hope lies in the discovery of these five robot lions, which combine together to form the mighty robot, Voltron: Defender of the Universe!  With the compelling stories, memorable characters, humor and heart-pounding action that made the Voltron television series and brand so popular, Voltron is the ultimate story of good versus evil, and the triumph of the human spirit. Voltron: The Legend Begins DVD features 180 minutes of action on one disc including extra bonus content.
