Academy Award-winning developer Colorfront released details about how its On-Set Dailies system has rapidly become the premier choice for digital production dailies among major motion pictures and TV shows.
Colorfront, one of the worlds most advanced digital intermediate (DI) and post production facilities, based in Budapest, Hungary, has announced that its software development team is to be honoured with a Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Autodesk Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Colorfront Ltd., the leading developer of color correction technology for film studios and digital film laboratories, for $15 million. This acquisition will bring comprehensive new expertise in film laboratory processes, digital post-production, color science, image processing and hardware platform optimization to Autodesk. The transaction is expected to close in the next 45 days, and to be neutral to Autodesks earnings in fiscal year 2006.
India-based company Colorfront has announced the release of their high-end colour correction tool color*star. color*star is the industry's first plug-in for digital film grading, advanced selective colour correction and creative look-creation running on Discreet's high-end visual effects and editing systems. The plug-in currently runs on inferno*, flame*, flint*, effect* on O2, fire* and smoke* systems from Discreet. Colorfront has recognized the convergence of film, HDTV and video to the 1080p/24 Universal Mastering solution and have standardized color*star's workflow in this format.
