Expression College for Digital Arts announced that it is teaming up with Spatial View Inc. (SVI) to open a new dimension in visual arts and gaming. SVI is donating its new technology: polarized, lenticular, computer screens and the software that displays movies, animations and images in 3D without the need for glasses to Expression College for use in its academic environment.
The addition of SVIs screens and software will enhance the lab learning environment at Expression by offering tomorrows game and animation creators the experience of 3D technology. Students use the latest in auto stereoscopic display systems to create their electronic game and digital animation school projects. Their scientific feedback will feed back to SVIs hardware and software designers in Germany. Their artistic creation renderings will debut at this weeks Game Developers Conference, in large screen, full 3D.
Its a great learning experience for everyone -- the students from the technology and the technologys designers from the students, said Mike Bienstock, of Spatial View. Im expecting the results on both ends to be eye- popping.
Andrew Britt, director of visual arts for Expression thinks that this will be a great opportunity for the students. Im really excited by this new technology. Students will get to create their 3D models and animations in actual 3D, making their work will literally jump off the screens and look more dynamic. Games created in the game production class will be able to be played in 3D, truly showing the depth of what they are working on.
