This summer, students of the Laguna College of Art + Design Animation Master Class in stop-motion animation are producing Un Garçon et Sa Bête (A Boy and His Beast), based upon a French folktale set in 18th century France.

A group of 15 students, led by producer Stephanie Alexander and director Calley MacDonald, have taken on the herculean task of story development, character design, puppet fabrication, scenery, filming, editing and scoring the entire short over the course of just 10 weeks. This ambitious project is slated for completion on August 1.

Two summers ago, the master class produced the award-winning Sock Thief, led by instructor Stephen Choido:

Michelle Furlong (puppet builder and wardrobe) and Michael Wansing (editor and sound designer).
