MGM Home Entertainment Group, a unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has promoted Ian Sutherland from svp to evp, international theatrical distribution and marketing.
"Ian has done important work overseeing our overseas distribution and marketing efforts in conjunction with our partner, Twentieth Century Fox Intl," said David Bishop, president of the group. "This well deserved promotion recognizes that work."
Sutherland joined MGM in 2000 as svp, international marketing and distribution, overseeing the theatrical distribution and marketing of MGM/UA films including LEGALLY BLONDE, DIE ANOTHER DAY, WALKING TALL and DE-LOVELY and coordinating and working with the company's international distribution partner, Twentieth Century Fox Intl. Sutherland's duties will continue in that role with such eagerly awaited forthcoming films as BE COOL, AMITYVILLE HORROR, INTO THE BLUE and THE PINK PANTHER.
Sutherland spent 11 years with United International Pictures in Australia and England, where he ultimately served as svp, international marketing. Previously, he worked in various positions with several leading Australian advertising agencies.
Sutherland, a board member of Australians in Film Los Angeles, has been a guest lecturer at USC and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
