Motor Away: Špela Čadež’s ‘Nighthawk’ Makes Online Debut

Award-winning stop-motion short co-produced by Croatia’s Finta Film and Slovenia’s Bonobostudio takes traditional multiplane cut-out animation to a new level in a tale of a drunken badger set loose on the roads.

Here’s a nice treat for fans of independent animation -- Bonobostudio’s Nighthawk has made its way online as a Vimeo Staff Pick and Short of the Week.

Directed by Špela Čadež and co-produced by Croatia’s Finta Film, RTV Slovenija, and Slovenia’s Bonobostudio, the stop-motion animated short has been making waves on the festival circuit ever since its debut at the 2016 Ottawa Festival, screening at more than 19 international festivals and picking up multiple awards including top prizes at Animafest Zagreb and HAFF.

Nighthawk takes traditional multiplane cut-out animation to a new level in this tale of a drunken badger set loose on the roads.
