STUDIO AKA Brings 'Front Row' to Life

STUDIO AKA and BBC team up to create a new campaign for BBC Radio 4.

STUDIO AKA produced a campaign highlighting BBC Radio 4’s distinctive arts and culture content, including a 30 second trail for BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, with a further three 30 second trails for BBC Radio 4’s new Cultural Exchange to follow.

Commissioned by the BBC, through Karmarama & Red Bee Media, AKA was set the task of creating a series of animated trails shining a light on BBC Radio 4’s cultural offering. First to hit our screens will be an introductory spot for BBC Radio 4's flagship arts and culture program, Front Row. The brief from Karmarama, to AKA Director Marc Craste, was to take the viewer on 'a journey of all things cultural, from books to video games, from Ian McEwan to Damon Albarn'. All via a process of morphing animation sequences, that utilise clever transitions to move seamlessly from one scene to the next in interesting and unexpected ways.

Highlighting BBC Radio 4’s new Cultural Exchange feature, a further three 30 second trails will follow. These are based on interviews with leading creative minds, each talking about something cultural that they love or have been affected by, from books, to music, to theatre.

The FRONT ROW trail was brought to life at AKA with a bend of sequences all created in Softimage XSI and Adobe After Effects.
